Needs, Problems, Future Expectations of NEETs in Turkey

With the research of “Needs, Problems, Future Expectations of Young People in Neither Education nor Employment (NEET) in Turkey”, which is one of the research studies carried out by YADA Foundation with the aim of informing and guiding civil society and other relevant stakeholders on political and social issues, the basic dynamics of the youth in the NEET group, and to identify their needs. Within the scope of the research carried out in 2020, a desk study was carried out in which studies describing the current situation of young people were examined by scanning the literature. In addition, in-depth interviews were conducted with 15 NEET youth. In the quantitative field phase, which constitutes the main findings of the research, a face-to-face survey was conducted with 1518 young people representing Turkey. The sample structure consists of 50% NEET and 50% non-NEET youth. This provides the opportunity to compare the needs, expectations, and lifestyles of young people, which differ depending on whether they are NEET or not.
